UntitledStanding in the doorway between her grandparents’ dinner and kitchen, Nina felt a little like she was floating. She clutched a stuffed animal—a rabbit she’d had since she was born but had never named—and stood completely still. She looked around the kitchen. It looked very old to her. It looked, in fact, like a typical fifties kitchen, though she couldn’t know that at the time. Secret Heart: "poem"at any given moment, four billion stimuli are trying to get the brain's attention. out of these four billion, the brain chooses around two thousand to allow through to the consciousness. or, at least, that's what i've been told. i imagine it's at least partially correct, though. take right now, for example. i could tell you where i feel his hair on my face, how warm his fingertips feel on my shoulder, whether his breathing is of waking or sleeping, but i couldn't for the life of me tell you the color of the walls, or whether the sun is rising or setting.

Secret HeartAt any given moment, my brain is being bombarded by about four billion bits of sensory information, and it only lets in about two thousand. That’s over three and a half billion things I’m ignoring at any time.
The brain prioritizes everything too. I wonder where I come in in Taylor’s brain. Would I come before music, his kids, his wife? He’s pretending to sleep. All I can do is look at him, and hope that he notices the circles I’m drawing on his palms, my breath on his shoulder. Hope that I’ll make the cut. He'll always make mine. Secret Heart

Between Eternity and Time:5William
I woke up on my back. My room was drowning in yellow. My right arm was stretched out at my side and her fingers were in between mine. Her hair was tangled into knots in my other hand. Her head was on my chest facing me. It moved up and down with my breathing, and I could feel her breath on me slowly coming out through her nose. Over her head I could see the curve of her back. I freed my hand from her hair and placed it on her spine, moving down little by little. I rubbed each bump in the middle, never lifting my fingers from her skin. I felt the curve go down and then back up again. I moved my hand up, starting in the mid Between Eternity and Time:5

Mood: Peaceful

Hey, everyone.
I submitted a story I wrote for my fiction & poetry class. It's not that great. I could use some suggestions.

I would also love it if you read the "poem" version of Secret Heart lol... it's pretty much prose, but I suck at poetry, so I'm sticking with the form I left it in. I actually have to revise that one again, so I could use all the help you kind people are willing to give.

A new story is in the works which has to be finished by 8 May, so I'll probably submit it sometime after that.

I hope the end of the year isn't too stressful for you (Jill and Eric, I'm looking at you).
